That project was not successful, people in the project apparently don't get motivation off the fact that they can earn some money. The primary motivation factors in our project seem to be fun and needing something oneself - oh, and the satisfaction that the work helps others.
Of course, the more one tries to be helpful, the more (s)he can hope for receiving help. We're just a losely-tied community of pretty normal people and standard group dynamic applies, after all.
