Was thinking this problem was OS related...installs of both SM 2.0.x and Thunderbird 3.0 were not opening with the window in front, or following to the correctly assigned Space under Sno Lep. So...

I used a utility app called MainMenu - probably went overboard, but I ran all of the following: Rebuild Launch Services, Update Prebindings, Update Whatis Database, and Update Locate Database; then I did a restart.

Now all is working properly. I probably could have stopped at Rebuild Launch Services and a restart, but in any event, SM 2.0.1 is finally launching properly for me now.
