Just noticed that if one opens a new Tab in Mail/News from the
Account/Server "home" page, the snap setting for the Preview pane is not
remembered, however, if one opens a new Tab from the window with the
Preview pane displayed, the position/state of the window is remembered
and opened correctly in the new Tab.
Shouldn't SM remember where you set the Preview pane in both cases?
I can't see any difference.
Maybe you can show that with a screenshot or two?

Yeah...not really sure I'm describing what I'm seeing clearly, and
unless I can post a screenshot here I really don't have a way to do so.
You wouldn't see this if you didn't have a preview pane set open and
browse messages by opening them - I think it's really called the Message
Pane, looking at the menu options.
I use Classic View for Mail/News - if you have a Message Pane open
browsing a subscription, go to the pane that displays the option links
for account settings, search, etc. by selecting the Account name and
open a tab from there; the tab will open to the same page/selection.
Once you select a subscription to view the Message Pane is snapped shut
and you have to drag it back open - in both tabs. The display setting
for the Message Pane is not remembered and/or carried forward for the
next tab.
