Are you sure you did, though? I know at some point, I thought SM was having this behaviour until I realised there is a roll-down menu in the preferences that lets you pick if the selected behaviour (blank page, home page, last page visited or restore previous session) is to be applied to launching the browser, opening a new window or opening a new tab. All three are separate, not all picked at once.
