Windows Live and SM

Does SM Mail work on Windows Live?  My ISP is switching over to Windows 
Live and from what they are telling me, it can only be accessed through 
a browser, and, with no way to download the e-mails to why 
computer!!!!!!    Please.....tell me it's not true! ....???
