When you place that after the sig, it is, of course, stripped.
Anyhow, I don't think it means anything for SM 2.0.x users. Google had
announce last week that they were dropping IE support.
Since support is also being dropped for FF 2.0.x, I would suspect that
there may be a problem for SM 1.1.x users.
