Dependent on how you set the preferences, SeaMonkey will behave exactly like Firefox. At the moment you will need to go to about:config but my patch just recently landed on trunk so in SeaMonkey 2.1 there will be additional checkboxes in Advanced->Software Installation to fine tune exactly how you want your update/downloads to behave.
