Me and another SM2 user are running into a problem with viewing and
writing messages.
Both in email and newsgroup.

we both have in Preference(Options) appearance >Fonts western
In Edit > Mail and Newsgroup Account setting every where mention about
character encoding set , and in Preference(Options) Mail and news
Character encoding, we have set to either ISO-8859-1 or UTF-8 come up
with same problem.
I've suggested other fellow to try Thunderbird, Postbox, or even Apple
Mail and see if problem persists.
I belie its a bug in SM or some obscure setting in about:config which
should be _automatically view in encoding sent_ any suggestions as
to what is going on.
