Mozbackup as indicated by D Taylor is an excellent method, I use it. You
can also drag-drop the entire profile to an external drive as I also do
and in the event of having to evacuate (twice here since 2005), I can
take the drive with me that contains all important data, etc.

For your method, Jay - how do you find the profile, what is it named?
Once you have it, how hard is it to retrieve email?
