because of valid = false.
have a look in about:config to see which accounts are existing and which
are not. Remove all necessary entries and set all valid ones NOT to
false. Afterwards the wizard should work fine again.

Thanks. That helped. I had one more valid = false setting. Removed it, and the
wizard works.
As mentioned in the bug report pointed by S., it would be helpful to get a clue
what to do in such a case: the wizard could display an advise roughly as you
gave it about.
