This History list is only those web addresses that you have physically

That drop down list has never been useful to me in any version. It does
not show recent web sites visited, it shows "old" sites I haven't
visited recently. Is there any setting anywhere that I could change to
make it show recent visits?
After re-reading your message, I think I have just answered my own
question, because most of my visits come from a Google search entry,
that returns a link which I click.
So now, my question is, why is this list limited to "physically entered"
addresses? Is it harder to keep up with visited sites [through links]?

The list is very useful. It allows me to revisit a URI for which I
don't have a link; instead, I originally typed in the URI. The fewer
times I have to type a URI, the fewer typos I make.
I understand that it may be useful to many others, but as I said not to
me, because I type very few addresses in that box. I usually have to
search for the correct address first, and therefore use a link.
If you want to see a history of URIs you recently visited -- both by
selecting links and also by typing in URIs -- either go to your menu bar
and select [Go> History] or else use Ctrl-H. My History window is
sorted chronologically, but other sorts are possible.
Go... is what I have always had to use, but when you close out your
browser those links are gone. No matter, I've gotten used to it now,
and just wondered why my recent visited sites never showed up, and now
Daniel has explained why. :)
