Elsewhere in this thread, Dominique has posted a Bugzilla bug number,
and reading that shows that Thunderbird is also affected. They have
noted that if you close which ever program you're using, and then
re-open it, you are able to see the message.

I see this bug all the time. it happens at least once a day. Mark it as unread. The shut down SeaMonkey and restart and you ca read message

Also note in some cases rather than being highlighted. the item is outlined in a rectangle (the subject). SM 1 never ever did this. SM2 since inception always had.

Someone need to post a Bug about it in SM Bugzilla even if it Duplicates one in Thunderbird.
