I've been working for last half hour to get anything from
eternal-september. Now I am getting a can't find LDAP server.

When you think you have a connection problem, check here:
http://eternal-september.org/serverstatus.php?language=en

This was mentioned to you before.

Can't get in when I go to sign in it just sits there.
There is a problem.

You shouldn't have to "sign in", if your settings are right. You just
click on the news server account you have set up in SM, and the news
groups you have subscribed to, should download.

How did you set up your ES news server account?
bj

I originally went to eternal-september.org website signed up received a message which gave me my user name and Password.

I then setup the news account

so I typed in username when requested when I went to get list of newsgroups. it asked for username and then asked for password. I typed them in and checked to save in passwords. I then was able to get listings. Then today I started getting the LDAP error and was not able to get anything.

Then I went to eternal-september.or tonight to sign in and and it just sits and sits, and sits, and sits. Tried in Safari, FireFox, iCab same results can not log in just sits

Guess I'll pay the 8 bucks a month for giganews. If eternal-september is going to break down every few days even if free is not very enjoyable. I want something once you set it up you don't feel like you need to take a hammer to your computer to make it work.
