Since this is so new, I'm wondering if Google is still handling
installation problems, or if SM 2.05 is not going to work period. When
I click on the link to use wallpaper at the Google site, it gives me a
new address in the location bar, but nothing happens, and it says
"Done". I still have my old screen and the link is gone.

Can someone else try it, and see what you get, so I know if it's my
settings, Google's or what? TIA....

Is there no one here who is curious enough to try out this new Google feature, or are all SM users so technically proficient this doesn't interest them? ;) <jk>

Google has introduced <http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2010/06/freeze-frame.html> a new feature that allows you to put a background image of your choice on Google.com in place of Google's plain, white background.

Today, we're introducing a new feature that brings a whole new
level of personalization to Google by letting you add a favorite
photo or image to the background of the Google homepage. You can
choose a photo from your computer, your own Picasa Web Album or a
public gallery hosted by Picasa which includes a selection of
    beautiful photos.
