Can you expand a little bit on what you have in mind and what your
specific needs and goals are?
Post your operating system as well... for example, windows has some
pretty good voice recognition tools built in to it's os that would allow
you to start setting up voice activation and controls for any program
including seamonkey and then you can implement voice recognition to
write newsgroup and email correspondence and responses.
About six months ago, I experimented for a couple of weeks with the
built in capabilities in XPPro and was pretty blown away by how accurate
the voice recognition was right out of the box with no training or
tweaking plus the general voice command features that were available.
The only real cost issue is that using a good quality microphone makes
the process much easier.

Ditto for Mac OS X - plus with Automator and scripting you can go even
farther.
I fooled around with using voice for apps and found I didn't really have
a use/need - but that's just me. I'm more interested in voice control
for home automation.
