Several thoughts...

Make sure that SM's edit/pref/advanced/quicklaunch is off

Make sure that Task Managers "All Processes" is checked

Click Task Managers image name column header to sort alphabetically which will group multiple SM instances together


if that does not narrow things down, drop to DOS and issue;

netstat -ano

This will show all current network connections as well as the PID of the app or service that created the connection. If there is something bogus going on, doing this will allow you to pin down who's doing what... tip, use the up arrow to reissue this command at short intervals which will help spot processes that are "phoning home" then quickly disconnecting.


If SM is still reloading by itself, I would then strongly suspect that something malicious is launching it.
