OK. Just found a station with mms (apparently the other I tested wasn't):
mms://stream.amazingfacts.org/twentyfourseven
mms://channel125.com/channel125
etc.

I get a popup 'Launch Application'
This link needs to be opened with an application. Send to:
primiary choice is 'totem' - that doesn't work, just freezes and I have
to kill totem/movie player.

There is also an option:
Choose an Application
and I choose:
gnome-mplayer (/usr/bin/gnome-mplayer)
it opens as a separate application and does play the mms stream (video &
sound).
There is an tick box for 'Remember my choice for mms links' but I won't
click that just yet until I figure out the process.
