I cannot find an option to delete any entry in the HELPER APPLICATION
file. The file is a 'This is a created file - Do not edit' type.
I forgot to mention that I am running SM 2.07pre
(Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.12pre)
Gecko/20100809 SeaMonkey/2.0.7pre)
Edit the mimeTypes.rdf file from a standard text editor. I find the lack
of the ability to remove a "Helper Application" like that in older
versions of SeaMonkey frustrating. You can check bugzilla to see if
there is an outstanding bug report already filed. If not, file one.
Nope, removed one of the two in the file and when looking at the
Edit/Preferences/Browser/HelperApplications window they both still showed in
the 'Content Type' window. One had the 'Action' program and the other had
'Always Ask'.
Deleted both in the mimeTypes.rdf and both still appeared with 'Always Ask' in
the 'Action' column.
Bug 587988 filed
Interesting. Are you editing the mimeTypes.rdf in the user profile? Do
you get the same results if you try a test profile?
Created new test profile and had no trouble removing the entry for any helper
RDF in the mimeTypes.rdf file. Renamed the .rdf file to .rdf.old and copied
the one from the Test profile to my normal profile. My duplicate helper
problem is solved, but I'm going to leave the bug filed. There should be an
easy way to edit the helper applications. There was in SM 1.x versions. So I
guess this is a regression.
