In version 1, SeaMonkey played a sound and displayed an icon in the tray after downloading mail, notifying me that I could now go and read the incoming messages.

Version 2 seems to take the approach of playing the sound first and downloading the messages afterward, so its announcement now has the effect of saying, "you're going to have new messages after I get done downloading them."

I much prefer the first version -- I don't want to be nagged until I can do something about it, and I don't want to fill my head with useless distractions. Is this something I can control, or can the developers consider going back to the old way?

TIA
