E-mail clients may indeed follow the convention.  However, the only RFC
to specify this -- RFC 3676 -- addresses only newsgroup messages.  There
is no formal convention (and thus no convention at all) regarding this
for E-mail.

On occasion, I might filter and ignore all newsgroup messages
posted through GoogleGroups via Google's G2/1.0 user agent
because of spam from that source.
