seems very sluggish. Although the RoadRunner connection is supposed to
be broadband, it sometimes is slower than dial-up.
This is no longer a SeaMonkey issue unless someone knows how to use
SeaMonkey to find what DNS was used. In the meantime, this thread is
not on-topic.
Note that I have the ShowIP 0.8.19 extension from
<http://code.google.com/p/firefox-showip/>. However, this only shows
the IP address of the target Web page, not the DNS used to get that IP
address.
David, I think you'll find DNS Benchmark by Steve Gibson (creator of SpinRite
and head of Gibson Research Corp.) valuable. The program can be found here:
http://www.grc.com/dns/benchmark.htm. I used the utility to switch
my DNS servers from Verizon's to faster, more secure servers that didn't
redirect certain web page errors to Verizon ad pages. I've seen a noticeable
improvement in browser response time between pages since making the change.
DNS Benchmark is a small, standalone utility without the need for traditional
installation--simply copy the exe to a designated folder and run from there.
For such a compact utility, it has many advanced features, so be sure to read
the instructions and operation tips thoroughly for a clear understanding of
your results.
