I would like to give an opinion but plenty of details are lacking :
system ?
several accounts for logging ?
IMAP or POP ?
one or several profiles ?
and so on...

have you analysed the time stamps in the headers (ctrl U) ???
(I suggest to verify that all machines are time sync first)
