David, I think you are missing Rick's point; if you are on the link from the OP and then close the tab you get nailed by the 'Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page?' popup. At that point, even with Prefbar (which I always use), you can't disable the javascript as it has already been enacted in order to do the popup.
