Interim response from Ken (in Oz) to the posts here so far.
Guys, your thoughts have been very welcome. I'm not a tech whiz, so I
may have to wait to do much until the middle of next week when a friend
can come and help out.
For example, I don't really understand cybercitizen's reference to
locating 'local folders' under Netscape [or SeaMonkey] hierarchy and
then suppressing the .msf files, if any.
I can tell sean that I already have SM on my new (Windows 7-using)
computer - naturally, as I have used the SM suite for years.
About MozBackup. I do have that on my old Acer computer (which has
Netscape and SM, with Windows XP) and on the HP computer (which also has
Windows XP) where I have loaded Netscape and hope to import my Netscape
mail files from the old Acer computer. I ran MozBackup on both of these
computers a few minutes ago. In both cases, it said: 'It is possible to
backup or restore Mozilla user profile(s) for the following
applications: Mozilla 1.8.1.21.'
In neither case was there any mention of Netscape.
Paul's reference to a Virtual XP machine for Win7 is noted with
interest. I'm not sure that I understand his other suggestion: 'Can you
export to a file then import to SM?' (No doubt my friend will know.)
Another complicating factor. My present SM not only has Inbox and
Sentbox, it has Old Inboxes 1,2, and 3, and Old Sentbox 1,2, and 3, both
containing emails going back several years. (The Netscape mails are
from a time before that, but are especially valuable.)
Many thanks - Ken (in Oz)
