Update to SeaMonkey 2.0.12.  Tabbed browsing is a basic capability.  You
don't need an add-on.

Install the AdBlock Plus extension from <http://adblockplus.org/en/>.
Use that to block ads.  (I don't know if it works with SeaMonkey 1.1,
but it does work with 2.0.12.)

Set your preferences to block popups:  On the menu bar, select [Edit >
Preferences].  On the Preferences window, select [Privacy & Security >
Popup Windows.  Check the checkbox to block unrequested popups.

On occasion, I might filter and ignore all newsgroup messages
posted through GoogleGroups via Google's G2/1.0 user agent
because of spam from that source.
