I suggest first masquerading your email address when sending messages
to newsgroups...

modify your address in the account parameters, changing it for an
invalid one, supposing the address can be harvested...
Note that these newsgroup account settings are independent of the
settings used for your conventional email accounts, so you need not
trash your mail settings while posting to a NG and then untrash them
when you're done. You can be Donald Duck to us and Mickey Mouse to the
rest of the world.
