That's because there are no significant changes slated for the user profile in the next few versions of Firefox, while there is at least an important change in the profile format for Seamonkey 2.1: SM2.1 will fully adopt the "Places" system for storing bookmarks, which 2.0 doesn't. So, the information is converted from the old format to the new one... but it isn't converted back automatically, since SM2.0 doesn't support the Places storage system fully. As for extensions... I feel your pain. I also rely on several oldish extensions which seem to have been abandoned by their authors, and might not be (officially) updated for SM 2.1. However, not all hope is lost: - Some of them may not be available right now, but are in fact being prepared by their authors/maintainers and will be made available soon after MS2.1 final release. That seems to be the case with Enigmail, for instance -- and I have hope that Johannes Schellen will update his Pinball theme (More than once in the past I thought he had abandoned the project, only to be proven wrong...). The JSlib author has indicated that he will, in fact, update the extension. And so on... - Many extensions will in fact work fine in SM2.1, needing only a small tweak (editing a single line in a text file) to inform Seamonkey that they are compatible. - Philip Chee keeps a repository of extensions that have been "fixed" to work with Seamonkey -- either through unofficial ports from Firefox versions, or by tweaking older Seamonkey-compatible versions. Perhaps your beloved extensions will appear there eventually: http://xsidebar.mozdev.org/ -- MCBastos This message has been protected with the 2ROT13 algorithm.
