Upgrading from SM 1.x to SM 2.x will migrate (copy) your profile (once), so nothing will be lost. If you upgrade directly to SM 2.2 or 2.1, you'll lose your download history, so if you want to keep that, upgrade to SM 2.0 first. The rest should just work (in theory; there have been reports of migration failures but we'll come to that if it happens to you).
