Yes, I did receive a bounce; several, in fact. So, realising that my messages were not getting through to the original sender, because he/she had obfuscated his/her address, I did the gentlemanly thing and manually removed the obfuscation, so that he/she would receive my intended reply.
I think the problem here is one in communication. You try to do the gentlemanly thing by replying both to the group/list/whatever and to Daniel (or any other person), eliminating the obfusccating part in the process. Doing so, though means that Daniel's address is openly communicated through the g/l/w, which goes against his wish of keeping it from spider bots. So by trying to be gentlemanly, you actually are going against Daniel's wish to keep his address private. Add to that the fact that he now gets the same reply *twice* from you (once the g/l/w and once in his email) and I think you can begin to see why it annoys him.
So that's why he thinks you are going through a lot of trouble to annoy him since if you simply deleted his address from the reply field (rather than editing it to deobfuscate it), it would be less work for you and nicer to him (or anyone else).
