This is a double problem. First of all, I think Vanguard blocks the saving of passwords. Prior to SeaMonkey 2.1, there was a simple tweak to a file that overrode most such blocks. Now, however, that tweak no longer works. Stanimir Stamenkov is attempting to create an extension that again overrides such blocks. See the thread "Password Manager workaround" here in mozilla.support.seamonkey. The other part of the problem is that Vanguard uses a split login, with the user ID input on one Web page and the password input on a subsequent page. In SeaMonkey 2.0.x, the tweak I previously mentioned allowed me to save the password. So far, with SeaMonkey 2.1 and 2.2, that has not worked. Furthermore, having already saved the password before upgrading to SeaMonkey 2.1, I found that Password Manager does not fill in the password in a split login ... sometimes. I cannot determine why it sometimes works and sometimes does not. In all cases, Vanguard's password page causes SeaMonkey 2.2 to request my master password; but often it then refuses to fill-in the password area no matter how many times I click on that area. In that other thread, Stamenkov presents a script that causes a saved password to be entered into the appropriate area on the password page even for split logins. He suggested creating a bookmarklet to implement that script, but I instead created a PrefBar button for it. However, I find that I do not always need to use the button for the reason given at the end of the previous paragraph. Both of these problems -- and one other -- are already cited in bug reports. See * Bug #348941 at <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348941> regarding using already-saved passwords for split logins. * Bug #355063 at <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=355063> regarding Password Manager and logins using script-generated forms (which again sometimes works and sometimes does not) * Bug #425145 at <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=425145> regarding sites that block the saving of passwords Note: Just now, I logged-in to my Vanguard account without any problem. -- David E.
