While this is true of course, the question is how to convince them. The easiest is by providing exact instructions on what to do to make an add-on compatible with SM (like Philip Chee or Stanimir Stamenkov do). That can only be done by a developer, though (unless it's really just adding the compatibility info to install.rdf). On the upside, once an add-on is compatible with any SM >= 2.1, all you need is the Add-on Compatibility Reporter to make it work with future versions.
