Advanced Troubleshooting

Adobe has identified some known issues with the current Flash Player download center, and the engineering team is currently working to address them.

Here are the temporary workarounds for the following issues.

1. Authenticating Proxy Servers

Issue: The Flash Player installer sometimes has trouble working behind some proxy server environments.

Workaround: Download the Adobe Flash Player installer directly by clicking one of the following links.

Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe

Flash Player Plug-in (All other Windows browsers)
http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe

Hope this helps others too.

Thanks,

DJ

downloaded and installed it, then run SM, asks for plugin, install
plugin, install fails, asks for manual install (player is visible in
program manager, so uninstalled it, downloaded it again, reinstall),
rerun SM, same loop.....

Try following the Adobe troubleshooting procedure:
