I remember that this problem occured after a electrical power failure of
the PC some a weeks ago.
This morning I logout from the computer and logon as root, then ran

find /tmp -user begou -exec ls -ld "{}" \;
find /var -user begou -exec ls -ld "{}" \;

to list temporary and system files remainning, and then:

find /tmp -user begou -exec rm -rf "{}" \;
find /var -user begou -exec rm -rf "{}" \;

to remove all of them (I wasn't logged on as begou).

This solves the problem.

I'm sorry, I should have detailed this.

Distrib is:
openSUSE 11.4 (x86_64)
VERSION = 11.4
CODENAME = Celadon

Seamonkey is the rpm provided by OpenSuse with all available patchs
applied:
i | seamonkey | package | 2.4-1.2.1 | x86_64 | Mises à
jour pour openSUSE 11.4 11.4-0

i | seamonkey-translations-common | package | 2.4-1.2.1 | x86_64 |

and "about seamonkey" says:
Identifiant de compilation : Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:7.0)
Gecko/20110922 Firefox/7.0 SeaMonkey/2.4
Sounds like an openSUSE bug - have you checked for bug reports there?

You can try the standard Mozilla version; download and extract to a home
folder& run from there. See if you still get the same errors.

$ cd seamonkey
$ ./seamonkey

I have a strange problem with seamonkey on my desktop: If I try to
use the
toolbar menu (files / edit / view... etc) seamonkey freeze. Firefox
follows the
same behavior. I've ran several tests and I do not understand what
happens:

- logged on the PC with gnome desktop the problem occurs.
- logged on the PC with icewm desktop the problem occurs.
- logged on the PC with another login, the problem do not occur.
- logged on the PC with another login and runing ssh -XC on the
same PC with my
account, the problem do not occur.
- I've removed (logged with root) all the ".*" files& directories
in my home
directory and moved .mozilla directory out. The problem still occurs.
- I've removed/installed-again seamonkey. The problem still occurs.

- I've no messages in the terminal where I launch seamonkey excepted:
/Gtk-Message: (for origin information, set GTK_DEBUG): failed to
retrieve
property `GtkTreeView::odd-row-color' of type `GdkColor' from rc
file value
"((GString*) 0x7fa781422200)" of type `GString'/
/*** nss-shared-helper: Shared database disabled (set
NSS_USE_SHARED_DB to
enable). /
//usr/bin/firefox: line 139: 1893 Processus arrêté $MOZ_PROGRAM "$@"/
But I have these for every login.

- I've no messages in /var/log/messages.

I'm a little bit confused with this and any suggestion is welcome.

It's helpful if you tell us which distro& version, plus how you
installed SeaMonkey.
