Are you using the SM 2.0.14 profile? If so then you have already
configured SM 2.5 to "Show Remote Content", unless it is a new email
that hasn't been approved.
Yes, I used the 2.0.14 profile. This is a monthly email that showed
remote content under 2.0.14 but does not show under 2.5. Anything in
about:config that I can tweak?
Have you added the Address to your Address Book? If so try deleting it
and then add it back.

And in my SM 2.5 there is a check box to tick that says Allow remote
content, next to Prefers to receive messages...
I believe if it is an email from a new address with remote content a
button should show up the first time you receive it. Don't know why it
didn't for you.
I could try installing 2.6, or 2.7, or both, and see what happens.
