Hello. I am using Seamonkey 2.5 with Windows XP Pro, sp3, on a rather
slow machine with only 384 MB of RAM. Here is my situation.
As I stated in a previous message I use the NVDA screen reader which
allows me to hear information from my various applications, including
Seamonkey. The following problem I'm about to describe is not new with
Seamonkey 2.5 but is something I first noticed with 2.4.1.
I regularly use the catalog of the Newark Free Library to search for
books: the URL is
http://ilsapp.lib.de.us/uhtbin/cgisirsi/x/x/0/49/
Recently I noticed that the page displaying the results of my search
would cause NVDA to freeze and there was no way I could navigate through
the results. Once I opened a new page or switched focus to another open
window NVDA would regain speech. I tried a variety of things to correct
this and reported it as a ticket in NVDA's bug tracker. However, I
realized that the problem went away if I opened Seamonkey's view menu,
chose Use Style and switched the page from Default to None. This is the
only solution which has worked and which has allowed me to once again
review the search results of the library catalog. Even turning off
images and clearing the cache didn't solve the issue.
I'm not sure why this worked but if that's what I have to do then it's
an easy enough solution. However, Seamonkey seems to always default to
the default style and I have to always manually switch it to None. Is
there an option which will allow Seamonkey to use None as the default
style for all pages. Can anyone guess as to why this would make a
difference?
David
