Ok. Thank you. I understand now. But it is not true that you can only sort by one column at a time. If you sort from the top tool bar (menu or File) and choose the "View" button, and on the drop down menu select "Sort by", and then make your choices that sorts everything. BUT it sets Descending back to Ascending. If I can't set Descending as default then that will drive me nuts. I finally have it the way I want it. For mail sort by date received, descending, unthreaded. In Newsgroups sort by date received, descending, threaded.
