I have Fireform 0.7.4 as an add-on (computer #1), using SM 2.6.1. It's
working well, but I can't get it to enable on my other computer
(computer #2), both running XP.
The Add-on listing for it says it's not compatible with 2.6.1, but it
offers three buttons: Options, Disable, Remove. At the top of the list,
it shows "! Add-on compatibility checking is disabled. You may have
incompatible add-ons. (Enable button)"
On my other computer, it has only one button in the Fireform listing:
Remove. There is no "! Add-on compatibility checking is disabled..."
warning at the top of the list.
I noticed the about:config file is different for the two computers when
I filter on "compatibility".
Computer #1 has list of about fifteen entries like this:
extensions.checkCompatibility.2.5; user set boolean false
extensions.checkCompatibility.2.6; user set boolean false
Should I add the one entry for 2.6 to computer #2? or is there a better
way to get SM (computer #2) to let me enable FireForm?
You should download/install the 'Add-on Compatibility Reporter' on the
second computer. Sounds like it's on the first one, and that's what
gives you the extra buttons on each plug-in entry.
I did have it on #1 for a while, but it interfered with Lightning, and I
removed it. That problem may be gone, now that Lightning has been
updated to a new version; regardless, Reporter seems to have left some
useful things in the config file.
Computer #2 doesn't have Lightning, so even the potential for problems
isn't there. I'll try it the next time my wife is away from it for an
hour or two. She'd really like Fireform back.
