You are partly right, it will depend on the program that created the PDF
as to what the person reading the file can do in edit. The Adobe Reader
will allow searching for content, that is a function of the reader plugin.

The acrobat PDFview Plugin on Macintosh computers only works on Safari and odes not work on any gecko based Browser, That includes Firefox, Seamonkey Camino, Aurora and any other browser from other companies based on Gecko.

I've been doing a one man campaign with Adobe, by sending in a request at least once or twice a year since the switch to OSX.
