Well, in my original message, I outlined that I go to betanews.com, to
fileforum, then I go to the link of the file I want to download.
You did not mention betanews.com, only betanews. ;)
I too went straight to the link and it worked. That wasn't an STR.
STR? -v
It occurs when you 1) visit the main site first,
Done.
2) click the fileforum tab/link,
Done.
and then 3) go to the link of the file that to be downloaded
I inserted autoruns in 'Search Fileforum' and the first link was one for
Autoruns 11.32.
the behavior occurs.
Clicking the above mentioned link showed a new page with 'Download Now'
top right. Clicking that started the download automatically, after a
short delay. Automatically, well, i have the chance to chose the place
where the download should be stored.
I *just* tried it again (9:27AM CST), and it timed out.
And i just tried and i see no problem whatsoever. *g*

It could be because you're on Linux and using 2.13, no? And you
couldn't figure out betanews was betanews.com via Google search?
STR = Steps To Repeat.
Well, your "STR" is incomplete (go to the link of the file that to be
downloaded?) as I also had to enter 'autorun' in the search box to find
the application.
And yet this behavior is 100% repeatable for me on my office XP SP3 PC
and my home XP SP3 PC. Doesn't seem to be coincidence. I just tried on
I suspect that you may have profile issues - try the "STR" in safe mode
or from a clean test profile. I've just tested using WinXPPro SP3 on two
different machines w/2.11b4:

Firefox/14.0 SeaMonkey/2.11
using both the direct link that you provided, and the steps that Hartmut
completed. No issues - both downloaded just fine.

my office Win 7 Enterprise 64bit SP1 machine and it did work fine,
just as it was for other Win 7 users. I wish I could do a video
capture of the whole process. It's happening and I wish I could debug
or something to figure it out.
