Does places.sqlite file get automatically compressed every 28 days/4
weeks or every month like the same day SM v2.10.1 made my new profile
(e.g., 7/14/2012 evening PDT)? I haven't noticed the file being smaller
from its 20 MB size yet.

Once a month.

Ah, my about:config's storage.vacuum.last.places.sqlite value says 1345018126 which is "Wed, 15 Aug 2012 08:08:46 GMT". That sounds about right with my new/clean SM v2.10.1's 7/14/2012 installation with a new profile. So I could change this value to force a compact too if I wanted to, but then it didn't even make my places.sqlite file size smaller. Yep, I surf too much in SM2. :P
