Not necessarily.  :-)

For a GNU/Linux system, the choices would most likely be LibreOffice or 
OpenOffice. A quick search seems to indicate that LibreOffice is what is 
offered as the standard choice with Puppy Linux. (It's what I use with 
Ubuntu.)

However, having one installed may still not cause a document to open 
*within* the browser. Matter of fact, I personally would rather not open a 
word document in my browsers. Seems that a lot would be missing.
