My cursor when I am using SeaMonkey flickers between the arrow and the swirling aqua circle. Mostly when a page is loading/reloading, it will hang. Up top I will get a message about SeaMonkey is not responding. Mail will also be hung, although other applications/browsers will not be. I can click over to Chrome and do things while waiting for SeaMonkey to unhang. It will also happen sometimes in mail when I am clicking from one email to another (I mostly use preview, rarely actually open an email).

The current window will also lose focus sometimes. I just got the hang while inside this message, and it flipped over to the main mail window. I've also seen it flip between the browser and mail. This is not the "unresponsive script" error, I get that too sometimes but that is a particular website. This happens anywhere.

I have also seen installers and system windows hang, although very briefly. Just long enough to see the "not responding" message.

I posted this on the Mozillazine forums on Dec. 30:

Current Seamonkey 2.14.1, fresh install no extensions. Brand new Win7 computer with 6GB RAM. I did turn on sync, but have not imported email from old version yet. Adjusted tab size, and current email all sitting in inbox (lots, almost 10k).

I think what may be causing it is offsite advertising calls. Have noticed it hanging a lot trying to load google ads, twitter, other advertising networks. Most of the time it will resolve if I wait, have had to shut down at least once.

I don't see RealPlayer installed. Cleaned out some of the bloat but not all.

* * *

Since then I have tried added Flashblock, and now today LastPass. The only others were what came with the install. Yesterday I couldn't see newsgroups in the pane, even after subscribing. Now after 2.15.1 installed they are there.

The computer I am syncing with is a XP laptop with current Seamonkey that started late in the 1 series (purchased just before Vista came out, and I was never able to import my original profile).

I'm using Avast free AV on both computers. Looks like Norton Backup is still running in the background of the new computer, although I have not activated it. I do not use iTunes, don't think it came pre-installed. Those are the most commonly mentioned conflicts from what I've found googling.

It is happening A LOT, seems even more frequently. Please help, it is driving me nuts.

Thanks!
Janine
