Here's something simple that I think is worth trying, and I would be very 
interested in the results you come up with. We both have sites where java 
won't launch. But here is a site where it works for me: 
http://www.time.gov/

If you are able to get the clock going, then there is likely some site 
interaction problem contributing to your profile situation.
