Well according to SeaMonkey Project News
http://www.seamonkey-project.org/news on Feb 4th there was a release
stating "As part of Mozilla's ongoing stability and security update
process, SeaMonkey 2.15.2 is now available for Windows, Mac, and
Linux as a free download from www.seamonkey-project.org." This led me
to believe that Mozilla still provides support for SeaMonkey. Correct
me if I'm wrong.
You're wrong. Pretend it says, "thanks to Mozilla updating Firefox, we
at The Sea Monkey Project have been able to make some updates also." and
you'll understand.
And btw, you can use two year old versions of SM for email and have no
problems. All the "updates" these days are just to implement more HTML5
recognition in the web browser.

My Software Installation preference has the "Download and Install" check
box NOT checked. Nevertheless, SM 2.16 arrived without telling me and
forced installation "the next time you restart SM". Unless I never
turned SM off again, it was going in.
Don't misunderstand, I would have installed it anyhow, but only after
cleaning up and copying my profile first.
Just wondering why the preference was ignored.

Are you sure you're looking at the right pref? There are two very
similarly named prefs in that dialog, one in the upper half that governs
the behavior of add-ons, and one in the lower half that governs the
behavior of SeaMonkey itself.

This should have been fixed in 2.15.1 or 2.15.2. And anyway 2.16 should
be out now.

Just updated to 2.16 and it still does it.
Ok I figured out how to fix it. It is only names with pictures.
If I copy and rename the existing picture in the photo dir in my
profile, change the picture to default then change it to the picture I
renamed. All is good.
Very easy ... isn't it ? :-) :-)

Used the menu item check for updates. The update went smoothly.
Restarted SeaMonkey to install the update. So far no issues.

resolution of 1152 x 864 (my preferred resolution when
using Windows 7 "Normal" (="Small") fonts, I have just
reset my screen resolution to 1280 x 1024 and increased
the font size to medium.
BUT.
(1) The font size in the "Compose" window is tiny
(I can barely see to type this), and Ctrl + does not
increase it.
(2) In the e-mail 3-window view, all of the items, whilst
in a legibly large font, are vertically cramped.
How may I rectify these issues, please ?

ctrl + works for me in my linux version of seamonkey 64 bit
using the
modern theme.... but i'd sure appreciate knowing where to make a larger
size font permanent in 2.15.2
sean
Well, selecting Help from the menu bar or pressing F1, navigating to the
Customizing SeaMonkey heading, then selecting Appearance Preferences -
Fonts is a place to start.
yes... i've always known about edit preferences > appearance > font...
the problem is it no longer works, and hasn't been a universal fix for
quite some time... Font preferences stick for the initial display, but
once one hits reply and starts typing a response to any message, the
teensie weensie tiny fonts reappear in the compose box... i don't
recollect this being an issue in 1.xx.xx versions...
I don't recollect 1.xx.xx versions, or the last version I actually used.
However, setting the Monospace Font Size larger made the fonts larger in
the compose window for this reply. The setting stayed when I Quit
SeaMonkey, and opened it again.
Disclaimer: I'm not using Windows 7, so your results may be different.
I'm using the latest Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:19.0)
Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0 SeaMonkey/2.16
which is a 64 bit version of Seamonkey in peppermintOS linux... via
tonight's ppa update ... the default font size seems to have migrated up
to 10 from an 8... but i tend to need to bump it on up to 12 or 14 to be
able to read it...

It has been said elsewhere here already, but my answer(s).
Mozilla (The Company) does not support/code-for/etc. SeaMonkey. (They do
provide server/hosting for us though)
The Mozilla Community (us) however, do support SeaMonkey, and we intend
to continue to follow the release cycle for Firefox proper at this time.
While we do currently depend on much of the same code as is present in
Thunderbird, and have our own limited resources, we do not see a
situation in the near future that would cause us to abandon or desupport
the Mail side of our codebase, even if Thunderbird was dropped by
Mozilla fully, this year.
So, while the future is quite uncertain in an all-volunteer developer
base, I do not see any signs of us stopping releases on the horizon.
I, for one, even though having had some harsh criticisms of Mozilla in
the past, am a huge fan of the SeaMonkey team/project. I'm a loyal user
and supporter. All of the SeaMonkey team members deserve a huge pat on
the back and whatever support we users can give.
Justin, if you can tell us how we can support your team's efforts I, for
one, will do what I can.

Copied from Windows XP to Mac OS X Tiger 6 years ago. :)
The code for it was implemented in 2003:

When I get back from my trip I'll have to try it. Not willing to be

start screen shows nothing but folder pane column to left where the folders
should be there is nothing is in column & large section to right where you
should see "read messages" Compose messages" "view settings for this
account" etc etc .....there is nothing there but blank screen. I restored my
computer back to 2-15.2 & all emails & folders show up again. Thanks

You should allow this file to run, it is a known issue that Norton, even
when we have repeatedly submitted "false positive" and "bad" reports to
them, as well as submit in-advance (by days) our binaries for
whitelisting, that this still happens for some users.

FWIW, my Norton Internet Security v. 19 didn't flag anything when I
upgraded on two different Win7 Pro SP1 computers (though it had
previously fretted when I upgraded to v. 2.15.1). If they think it's
bad, they should always think it's bad, shouldn't they? Or do we have
different versions of the dll for the two different operating systems?
