SS, no, eight is not the limit, it's just that SM has a problem in
that it thinks once you've set up your first news account, all
following accounts will be news!!
However, SS, back on 24 Jan 2013, in the thread "Can't add second
email account", NoOp replied to a similar question....

corrected that SM is a GOOD product ?
