Can we go back to the original problem, the context menu. Please discuss
about::config somewhere else.
The part of the problem that concerns the unruly and needless
propagation of context menu entries should be solvable.
You can download the menu manipulator extension from here:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=272717
This allows you to delete and reorder menu entries, including the
context menu. If you're creative, you can even get rid of entire menu
headings.
I don't know about the latest version of SeaMonkey, but I use it without
any problem on 2.15.2. There is also a version for Firefox in AoM.org
but it doesn't show up under SeaMonkey, so I don't know if it will work.
Unlike most extensions I'm familiar with, the browser type and version
in the extension I'm using are not noted in install.rdf, so if that's
true for the AoM version, it might.
While I respect the volunteer and collaborative nature of the SeaMonkey
project, not having a way to control the entries in the dropdown, tab
and context menus is like walking around in a custom Italian suit with
no underwear.
