I can place a copy of Unsorted Bookmarks to the Bookmarks Toolbar, but

Unfortunately no. Changing the default location of where bookmarks are
saved when clicking on the star icon is one of my pet peeves too. :)
For now, you can drag the website icon to your Bookmarks Toolbar.
