I am using SM 2.8 now... and was trying to wait until the next release,
but lots of web sites are not formatting correctly for me now, so I'm
thinking about upgrading and not waiting any longer. TIA for any
advice. :)
The current stable release is 2.17.1. This looks like an older version
if you think of the periods as decimal points, but actually they work
like hyphens or something. Since 17>8, this is a later version.
Version 2.8 was released March 13, 2012; v. 2.17.1 was released April
14, 2013, over a year later. So "the next release" came and went long ago.
For my money, 2.17.1 is perfectly stable, so I wouldn't hesitate to
upgrade. You can do it automatically (Help | Check for Updates...), or
you can download it here: <http://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/>
and install it manually.
If you have specific concerns, post back and one or more of the experts
will tell you where things stand.
