I am using SM 2.8 now... and was trying to wait until the next release,

thinking about upgrading and not waiting any longer. TIA for any
advice. :)

That is a pretty subjective question. As another posted said I would back up my profile and try 2.17.1 or wait a few weeks for 2.19 (2.18 is going to be skipped).

That said IMHO there are periods where certain things started to get broken and there just does not seem to be enough people volunteering to keep Seamonkey in a bug free state right now. Somewhere around 2.12 it started to go downhill fast with bugs that actually affect me. I run the current version but am more cautious than I used to be for this reason.

I feel the same way... they don't seem to care about the mundane things going wrong... it's all about the "new and flashy". Or perhaps I should say, they don't have the programmers to handle it all. I'm grateful for what we have regardless. :)

If you run older versions you risk security and other incompatibility issues, if you run newer you risk increasing bugs. Hard call I know.

It sure is! :)

My advice for folks is never install a 2.X release unless it has been out for a while. I tend to wait til 2.x.1 release or at least wait a few weeks to know there are no major issues. 2.17.1 has been out a while.

As you can see by my version 2.8... I do the same thing. :) Thanks for your response. :)
