How can this be done? Right now I find the folder buried deep inside the computer that contains the "Mail" and save that. Even with that saved, it is not easily decoded. Thanks Dave
The main reason I use seamonkey is that it allows you to store your profiles in a folder that you designate. When making up a new user, select the option to browse to the location where you want to profile stored. I would keep this data off of the C:, or system partition, so that you will not lose your email and browser data if your OS ever needs to be reinstalled. Now you will have all of your data (email, browser bookmarks, etc) for each profile in their own folders. All you need to do is to backup each folder as you would normally do for your data backup. I run a nightly backup of all of my data, including these profile folders. If you ever need to reinstall your OS, or move to a new computer, it is not that difficult to re-import these folders to your new setup. It is still harder than I think it should be, but it is reasonable to do and much better than the risk of losing everything.
The mozbackup program mentioned, compress your entire profile into a single file and is very good for moving to a new computer, or if you know you are going to reinstall. I don't think it is suitable for frequent backups like the daily ones I do here.
As mentioned, you really should have a frequent backup of all of your data files, and also a backup of your overall system. I use system images (clonezilla) to make backup images of my OS and apps partition/drive, and then use rsync to do a daily backup of my data. This is easier if your file system is set up to keep a clear divide between data and OS/apps.
Post back if you want more complete instructions on how to do any of this. If you don't currently have your profile in it's own folder somewhere off of the C: drive, you can use mozbackup to do that.
